Solisto.Pro

Solisto.Pro

The Solisto.Pro is the model for the most discerning customer. The Pro version provides three types of interfaces in one device: plug in a CD player, a USB-stick, an iPod/iPhone/iPad or any audio device – Solisto.Pro will cope with the task. The mini-jack-socket allows the use of cd-player, multimedia-player or laptop. The USB-interface allows the use of conventional and cost-saving storage media like USB-sticks, SD-cards (with an adapter) with original car radios. The special interface for iPod/iPhone/iPad gives you the opportunity to operate an iPod/iPhone/iPad like a CD changer.

With the USB or iPod/iPhone/iPad interface, the Solisto emulates a CD changer with up to 6 resp. 10 virtual cd´s with 99 songs each at the CD changer interface of the radio. Due to the exact simulation of the CD changer handling is easy and consistent. All functions are supported: fast forward, rewind within a track, random play and scan-mode. No software is needed in order to play music with the Solisto.

The USB interface

Simply connect USB-stick to your personal computer, copy your mp3-files into specifically named folders and start listening to your favourite music! As a special feature, the USB connection supports playlists of the standard M3U type. These can be created by various free software tools such as Winamp or MP3Tag. Using playlists, the songs (music files) can reside on the USB drive in any kind of directory structure e.g. having first the name of the artist and below that
sub-directories for each of the albums of that artist.
Which songs should be played in which order is then determined by playlists.

iPod/iPhone/iPad & Direct Access Mode

Controlling an iPod through the head unit is convenient and especially advisable when driving; but as this limits the number of accessible songs we have introduced the “Direct Access Mode. Direct Access Mode lets you access any song, playlist, album etc. on the iPod, using the iPod controls. To use Direct Access Mode: do not create the playlist „CD6“. Selecting this virtual CD on the head unit will then hand over control of the iPod to the iPod itself. The iPod will still obtain its power from the Solisto, but is controlled in the normal way.
If you want to return to the playlists controlled by the head unit simply select the corresponding virtual CD on the head unit and the iPod will give back control to the Solisto.

Btw.: The Solisto supplies power to the iPod/iPhone/iPad and charges the battery during use.

Talk Over Functionality

The Talk Over functionality is especially aimed at connecting mobile satnavs to the Solisto. In normal operation the interfaces for iPod/iPhone and USB have a higher priority than the Aux In interface. E.g. if a USB drive is connected to the Solisto, music is played from that and not the Aux In. A new feature of the Solisto 5G is that the Aux In interrupts the music played over the iPod/iPhone or USB interface when there is an audio signal at the Aux In. After the signal is gone, the Solisto switches back to the iPod/iPhone or USB interface. Example: music is being played from the USB drive, the audio output of the satnav is connected to the Aux In of the Solisto. Whenever there is a message from the satnav, the music from the USB drive is interrupted and the message is put through to the head unit and the speakers of the car. After the end of the message, the Solisto will automatically switch back to the music on the USB drive.
Other audio devices can be connected to the Aux In the same way. The basic principle remains the same.

Compatible USB Devices
In principle, all USB drives, card readers and USB hard disks are compatible.

Hard disks might consume more than the 1 A that the Solisto can provide (which is already twice as much as the USB 2.0 standard). Those disks need an external power supply. Some hard disks need exceptionally long to notify the Solisto about their existence so that the saved last position might be lost. USB hubs are not compatible. You can find more about the compatibility in the technical specs.
